When odors have deeply penetrated porous building materials such as subfloors, framing or drywall, cleaning alone may not always be enough. After appropriate cleaning and treatment, odor-blocking sealers or encapsulation may be used when necessary to help isolate residual odors before repairs and finishes are completed.
